    Which Way To Go

I awakened this morning out of a surreal dream and immediately the first line of what is written below was in my head. I'm not really a writer and most definitely not into poetry. I have attempted to write a few songs over the years but that's the extent of my creative writing. I knew I would forget it soon so I grabbed my phone and jotted it down in my notes. As I thought about it after writing it, the rest just came about quickly. I felt like I had just had an important dream about my life but just couldn't quite remember it all or grasp all of the details. It put me in a unusual head space and below is the result of trying to process and remember the dream.

    "Which way to go"

It all seemed so clear, now it's out of my
grasp, like memories of a dream that's
    already passed.

Like a ship in a fog, or steam on clean glass,
can't see the full picture, 'cause the clarity
    won't last.

Picked a direction, but found a dead end,
the path disappeared, like smoke in the
    wind.

A mirage and a vapor, is all that it was,
reaching for something, like everyone does.
It slipped from my hands, it wasn't really
mine. I should've listened in the quiet, and
    read all the signs.

With my mind now searching, and my heart
sinking low, I often sit and wonder, which
    way to go.

They all seem so sure. I once was too. But
    certainty's a luxury, that's out of my view. I
guess ignorance is bliss, when eyes are
wide shut. I was blind to the truth, and stuck
    in a rut.

There's no rewind button, for the things that
I've seen. For the things I've been shown,
    and the knowledge I've gleaned. I can't
pretend I don't know, that that man wasn't
me. A slave to a future, that I couldn't see.

    Searching for something, and looking
within. Reaching for words, like a writer and
    pen.

We're all wandering this earth, just nomads
in time. Finding our purpose, as we wrestle
    and climb.

So many forks, in this road we call life. Our
choices determine, our struggles and strife.
But life is a vapor, that's gone in a flash. The
flame that is strong, will one day be ash.

So make your life matter, love with all of
    your soul. Tomorrow's moments aren't
    promised, we have no control.

With my mind still searching, for all I don't
know, I often sit and wonder, which way to
    go.

Appreciate it y'all. It was the weirdest thing how easily it came together... and before I even had my first cup of coffee lol.
