      Great post and I like me some sentimental hunting /fishing gear! Especially stuff we use and spend a lot of time with that trigger the memories. Good stuff!

          Congratulations on the new property. I've built a many a trash can feeders in high school and used the all thread for bracing as well. I added a short funnel at the bottom of mine so it would empty out all the corn though. Last one I made is still going strong out in west Texas on a buddies property in a little place called Maryneal.

                      Well, a cable broke on one of mine and the drop destroyed the spinner and I had to make a new one---but once you've built one, it's east-peasy. One difference between my design and yours--I put a 2x4 crossbar inside from handle to handle--

                        Yup, once you can figure out a way to keep them from collapsing (or falling, if you hang them) they are hard to beat. I don't have any other feeders that are 30+ years old myself besides this one.
