That’s definitely hot, but I’ve done that plenty of times and I’m not a warm weather person.
I found quite a while back that as long as I can keep some cold or cool water with me and use a battery powered fan that it’s usually tolerable. And my blind is horrible in the PM because the afternoon sun shines directly in until it gets below the tree line in front of me.
I like the highs to be in the high 60’s, and the lows to be in the mid 50’s. I’ll hunt into the high 90’s or down to 30 if the right critter is in the area tempting me!
Worst part is being in a popup from daylight to dark hunting antelope. Ninety degrees today and forty tomorrow. Hunted hogs many times with sweat running down my crack. Always a cool camphouse and Jim Beam at the end of it though !
Really depends on the opportunities you have. When you have to, you will hunt every chance. I've shucked down to my underwear in a ground blind if the wind was right. Makes hunting the wind even more important. If I'm hunting a ladder, I'll keep the outer layers light. Sept is always brutal. I'd rather sit and sweat and see nothing. Because that would be the hunt I pass on and when I pull cards, there he would be.
I used to hunt whenever I had the opportunity no matter the temperature. A combination of age and declining motivation has gotten me to the point where I will only sit in a ground blind if is mid 70’s or lower. Do I miss some shot opportunities? Probably. Cold does not bother me - I’ll take 20 degrees over 90+ any day.
