I left them out there, they're likely coyote bait. I made a couple of calls, but didn't have any takers.

I learned my lesson a couple of years ago when I brought home this one from the same area. My wife wasn't happy! Apparently not all women like all gifts. He is living the good life on a farm as a pet in Decatur now.
