    Kansas first timer.

Have a group of friends that have a lot of experience hunting Kansas. I finally got in a spot where I could get away and try hunting there with them. My GF and I drew an archery tag and they didnt. They are helping but I need all the help and advise I can get. Will be hunting Public areas 4-5. Any and all advise will be greatly appreciated.

If you're up there mid to late Oct find a scrape line and hunt it, (bad thing is they check the scrapes at night sometimes) Nov, hunt all day, find a funnel. Every year is different, but the hot weeks seem to be last three weeks of Nov. I always hunt the 2nd and 3rd week. If you're hunting the edge of a field and see a lot of activity on the other side, don't think they may come by you sometime, make the move over there (made this mistake more times than I want to admit) Last year was a bust for me my four biggest bucks were nocturnal, never saw them during the day but took pictures of all of them between 2 and 3am. Good Luck

Don't let the big body size fool ya. A 150 might look like a 135 ish due to the big body. As the guy above said, typically the 2nd & 3rd week of Nov rocks.

Kansas is made for bowhunting. Not familiar with 4 or 5 but find structure close to food or bedding. CRP holds a lot of deer, structure in CRP if you can get to it without blowing everything out is prime. Pay close attention to your access routes and wind. Travel corridors are pretty are fairly easy to determine on a map, hunt them. Hunt all day in Nov.

Full moon is Nov 15th. If you are hunting public land focus on hard to reach areas and do not be afraid to hunt on the ground. They have a walk-in Atlas they publish you need to get. Do not be afraid to politely ask if anyone allows hunting access. Good luck.

Bobcats require a separate tag. Coyotes you can kill off of your hunting license.

Is baiting legal on public land? If so, put out some corn, hay and rice bran before you go hunting

I'm not sure about activity in your units but I can tell you how it's gone down in my KS unit for the past several decades. PM me if you want.
