I'm really thinking about doing this to my 308.
What knob did you get? I really like the badger tac knob.

I dont really like the Badger knob. I went with a PTG teardrop as it's not quite as bulky. There are several more I like from differnt manufacturer's so I may experiment with some other's as well.

Hey, wait a minute! What's wrong with the Badger? Looking good, was it a difficult project?

Okay, this is something I want to do. What process and tools did you use to go from original knob to threaded stud for the new knob? Why no step by step DIY?

I took a few pics along the way and will put em up on the diy forum as soon as I get time. Simple process, little grinding with a dremmel, some filing, sanding and threading. Threads are 5/16 24tpi. Basically you slowly whittle away the knob while using a 5/16 bolt as a size gauge. Make sure you start the die plumb when threading and run it up 3/4", i then turned the die around and ran it up to finish.

Very easy! But you already know that and a badger knob is great for those with Ruiz sized paws!!

Yeah, I guess my hands are big, but no where near Ruiz size.
