I have been battling it in my yard in Richardson. Easy to pull going to take my two years to get it all.

It's not Dallisgrass, nor KR, nor sprangletop, nor Johnsongrass, nor any type of bluestem. Likely some annual Panicum, Brachiaria, or Urochloa.

Yeah, doesn’t look like any bluestem to me, and it’s not dallisgrass, definitely not johnson grass. MSMA will smoke your st Augustine pretty good too. Manual removal, fertilize, and top dress the weaker soil areas with good quality compost to strengthen the st Augustine so it can choke out other species.

Another vote for dallisgrass. Agree that some of the pics of Dallisgrass online look slightly different but the OP's weed characteristics and difficulty in controlling are consistent with dallisgrass. I've been battling the same weed as the OP in my bermuda all summer. It's extremely difficult to control. I pulled and dug up a ton last summer and it was just as bad this summer. Trying Revolver in the next two weeks.

For what it's worth, My Plant App says it is Panicgrass aka autumn millet, smooth witchgrass, spreading panicgrass.

I don't know what it is...but I have it bad also. I just follow all the shoots, find the middle, bind up all the shoots like a man bun and try to pull it all out. I have some on my yard that are almost a 4' diameter. If its established pretty well it is a doozy to pull out by hand. Especially if its in clay soil like ours.

Don’t use MSMA if you have carpet grass. No matter what it is a grass. Pulling it is your only choice.
