Looking to possibly make the switch from production lease operator to our measurement side. Any techs on here with insight? Like, love, hate it?

How long have you been a lease op?
Engineer here, so take my opinion for whatever it’s worth. Being well rounded never hurts especially in today’s industry. I say you give it a shot and if you don’t like it after a year or two you can do something else or go back to the lease op side. It may also help you get to foreman level if that’s a desire of yours.

I grew up working on a WOR and gauging for my family in high school. Then I worked for a gauging company for about a year. Then I contract gauged for like 8 years. I went work for a company as a Prod Forman, then Assistant Prod Sup over STX, then I was over STX and WTX and doing fracs. Contract gauging was probably the most enjoyable followed by being a foremen. The rest was a lot of drama and bs.
