Our place has a blending of Coastal strain which run as early as mid/late Sept, in addition to E Texas strain that traditionally run at the end of Oct./very early Nov. I have witnessed as many as 5 different rut periods in one season.
I agree with the multiple ruts. We have native North Louisiana and Wisconsin & Iowa genitics that were released in the former WMA near our farm in 1959 and 1960. Based on fawn production, a few decades of field observation and WMA biologist surveys in the 1990's which included local neighboring properties along two major creek bottoms our ruts are mid Nov thru early to mid Jan.
