This next one is bitter-sweet. This outing (one of many, during those glorious, now-haunting 7 weeks... including a week in Freer, with my dear friend, SMITTY), in the summer of '07, was the first time I had seen my oldest boy since the one who gave him and his brother birth, and murdered our home/family stole them and disappeared... 8 years earlier.
We had a GRAND TIME!
...I haven't seen him since. God DOES work 'in mysterious ways'... so be it. He's still my King, and my love for my sons remains.
ANYWAY, I share this particularly sweet day with you fine folks, just as it happened all those lifetimes ago.
The Blessing Of Boys... and Bowfishin' (July 24, 2007... as shared with other friends, Down Unda)
My first-born has been down for the last 6 weeks for a visit (the one who gave him birth stole him and his brother, and disappeared 8 years ago... this was the first time these old waiting eyes had come to rest on his visage in a long, long time). For much of this visit, several strong, good friends from around the nation have cheered, prayed... and worked diligently to get a chance to meet him and make him welcome.
For a young man who had NEVER shot a bow or hunted in his life (she and those around her worked hard to erase every vestige of my manner of life from their memory and upbringing), he has caught up with it all VERY WELL in a short time!
This jaunt was with our good friend, Charlie Jahr (you men would definitely find a "Mate" in this one...), on REELFOOT LAKE, in far western Tennessee.
Hope you fine folk find some measure of Smile-Time in it, as well.
Our good friend, Charlie (aka onfire) invited us over to Reelfoot Lake for a day of lies, laughter and LUNKERS!
Here's just a tiny bit of what Mason came across (and THUMPED! :P )... A big THANK YOU!!! to Charlie, and some private grins and "thank you Lord"s...

This one was possibly the most unique fish ever taken from the lake... pics that show why later.
Oh, BTW... the last fish of the day (came off in the lilly pads before we could land 'im) that Mason nailed... may have been a piranha... DEFINITELY was not a "native" dish.
