    Yard Decking Costs

I am in the process of getting bids on a deck off of the back porches. The deck I am wanting is going to be approximately 1050 sq ft. Before we started measuring he commented $10 a sq. Ft labor plus materials. It’s just a straight out deck with a small percentage of railing, with treated lumber of course. The bid was $16,500 and I am sure there will be over run as in most cases. Sure sounds kind of high but I am out of touch. Not a done deal because I need to get a couple more bids hopefully but reliable help is at a minimum up here in my neck of the woods. We are approximately 30 miles north of Lufkin. There will be a small amount of drainage work.
Anyone had anything deck work built lately? Anyone know of anyone to recommended contractors? There is a good chance I will be doing this myself at these costs.

I will give you prices on our deck that the bottom is 32x18 and the upper deck is smaller but around the east side and north side of our house. All with treated lumber, but only the top boards. The deck was already hear, but neaded some serious work. Honestly, that price does not sound bad, but a lot of variables as to what it will take to build this deck. Is it basically ground level or raised in areas of the deck? I built decks in Lubbock for 11 years so I have a small background in this!

It is basically a ground deck with two sides of it being about two steps high. Yes I understand there are allot of variables that would be needed to get close on costs. Just looking for other’s opinions at a high level. Thanks

No help here. I do know here in Houston. With the storm in July. To have a board fence replaced with treated pine. $27.00 ft. If you’re lucky - to $40.00. Using Cedar pickets $35 -$50. Nothing fancy. What you could do is take your plans and measure measurements to Home Depot or Lowes. They can figure it to the penny. That will give you a good idea on materials.a good contractor going to get a better price than you will buying over the counter.

Just to circle back since I asked costs of decking in this thread. We ended up paying $16/sq ft (turnkey) to have our decking built. I forgot to add these decks were completed today.
