Best Cloud, Server, File storage and sharing host? - Small Business

I am touching base with other consultants on what they use but wanted to also check on here for recommendations.

Looking for a host for all of my companies data, files, drawings, GIS, and Orth mosaic/drone data.

Last company had a server but not looking at going that route yet.

All my employees will have access to 99% of the files and want them to easily be able to download, upload edit and share files as needed.

Looking at starting with One Drive and SharePoint but it looks like the extra storage will star adding up quick.

    Other Options I have seen:
    • Google Drive
    • DropBox
    • NextCloud
    • Box

Was curious what everyone uses and how they like it.

We are Microsoft Based, Outlook and Teams if that effects anything.

We use Box for all our project files. Good features, comments, notifications, version control, security, and can even send docusign straight from Box. No idea on cost as I'm just a user. Box Drive works just like a folder on your desktop/local machine.

Look at One Drive for business or Azure Files, both should be options that will work

If you use MS Teams, Sharepoint is already very integrated. I do a lot of integration for engineering firms. The GIS is the part that shakes things up depending on what you are doing with the data. If you are publishing the GIS data for external consumption, a server in Azure or a SAS platform may be the better route. It can be seamless to the users even if on two different platforms. Regardless of the platform, make sure MFA is forced for all access. We got called in yesterday to a new client who got ransomware because they didn’t have conditional access setup correctly on their MFA. In the process of recovering all of their data.

Extra file storage is relatively cheap for Sharepoint.

Azure files someone mentioned above (not the same as Sharepoint) is a nightmare if you are accessing files from a cad application (Autodesk or Bentley). Your CAD guys will hate you if you try to go that route and they are the ones probably doing your production work.
