    San Augustine county rut

I currently have a lease in Rye, it's OK if you like pine trees. This year after I use a few tags, I plan on hunting the national forest. We used to spend time in the Angalina national forest. My fishing camp is close to it. So the big question is when is the main rut activity around Brouduss, and Zavalla area ?

I don’t think there are any deer much in San Augustine County with Angelina only has a few. 😁

I have a lease just a mile out of San Augustine. Hardly any deer in those pines. Lots of hogs.

As a general rule of thumb Mr Killa is correct on his comment from my experiences around these areas. I have been noticing a few vehicles parked off the highways in the usual easy to get to creeks etc early and late the last couple of weeks so I assume hunters are starting to scout around.

It's funny how the rut varies by location. I have hunted Liberty county for over 40 years now. Our major rut occurs in October during bow season. I see very little rut activities after gun season starts.
