    Live trap bait ?

So a guy I know, has a problem with wild dogs.
He built a live trap that is big enough to catch these dogs, but the problem is, there are also many wild cats on his place too.
Everytime he sets his trap, the danged felines, feast on all of the bait.
So question is, what bait could this guy use, that is not tempting to stray cats, but a dog wouldn’t resist ?
He thought about using a stray cat. but don’t think these dogs are into that.
PS, he also says these dogs are impossible to enlist in the SSS club. Due to unpredictable timing.
He says, thank you in advance, for any info.

PS, just asking for a guy !

Straight up dog food with some bacon grease or drippings poured over it. Are they wild or are they the neighbors. There's not that many " wild" dogs packs out there. I'd just go talk to the problem and let them know. Most often it's not bad dogs but bad owners

First take care of the cats, then take care of the dogs—

Shame people are so lazy, inconsiderate and irresponsible.

None much of that goes on in my goat and sheep ranching pasture neighborhood. Guard dogs take care of problems. The guys raising axis and blackbuck are very intolerant of strays.

maybe coyote scent /bacon grease combo?

Problem is, you can’t trap and dispose of the owners !
Some parts of the country, have different views on strays, wilds, mismanaged dogs. Some say it’s the country, dogs should run free!
Others say, it’s the country, better keep your stuff put up, if it’s important to you.

I have no personal experience with this, but maybe a big danged cow bone?

Being as stray cat and dogs are opportunists when fending for themselves and eat anything available , I doubt you are going to be able to find something they each won't be interested in. Nothing either wouldn't at least investigate and get caught in a live trap. Dogs and cats won't distinguish between human invented cat and dog food either as opportunists.

Just be aware that felines are dumb and most canines are not. Bobcats are easy to trap, coyotes, not so much. I assume truly wild dogs would be the same.

Kill the cats, then the dogs.

Several years back, we had a clean out the refrig at the camp. Probably 1/2 a 5 gallon bucket of spoiled stuff into a pig trap on the hunting lease. Caught a Great Pyrenees. Never saw this dog before and never saw him again. He was friendly so I opened the door & he told us thanks and went about his way.
