    Hunting old railroad trestle

Well i walked my new lease and found a elevated railroad treatel. 25-30' about normal ground level. The path is clear except for the small dead trees.30' w X 200+ yrds long. Has anyone ever hunted a area like this? Thinking it might act like a good ridge for buck movement... any thoughts???

Hunt it if it looks good. Cousin at OSU, instructor in Ag, had a kid kill a monster off a tank battery with bow and was clueless about deer hunting.

RR runs north-south. Eastside of RR about 100' is main road. Not hwy. 2 lane. West side of RR is a old logging road. 100' away. So i thought about plannting logging road and sitting in stand on the RR especially if i have a west wind.

We have a railroad trussel running through our ranch, it is over a mile long, looks like it could be a hell of a place to hunt

I used to hunt an old abandoned rail road spur. Poured my bag of corn right down the middle of the tracks and it held a ton of deer. Made a great shooting lane as well!

In east tx where I grew up the old rr “tram” we called it used to be good hunting in my younger years. This is due to it being opened up back then in the big woods. When it was legal to run dogs we took stands on these paths also because the deer would take these as easy travel paths with the walkers pushing the deer. Of course many areas are grown up with trees etc. There used to be scrape lines in some of the areas also.

              it may be worth scouting?

Had a place over by Murvaul that had the Tram thru it. Made for some good stalking of pigs.

it was cut in two a few places and that really helped to funnel deer to a 75 yard stretch.

Our' s crosses a big creek that is mostly dry, the old bridge was about 50 - 60 yards long and it is about 30 plus feet to the bottom, all that is left are the wooden piles that were cut off at ground level, perfect location for a stand, we will call it " The Train Station "

Or, put one up where you want the deer to cross😁
