D Day for me. PET scan today

OK...This is what I know. from the PET scan. I guess it is a good report? Waiting on Bone scan results and Dr interpretation.

IMPRESSION: 1. Findings suggests low-grade chondroid lesion at the left posterior third rib. No change in size over the short interval. 2. Sclerotic appearance at the intramedullary canal of the distal right femur is mildly FDG avid. This is may represent a benign enchondroma. Recommend further evaluation with radiograph of the right femur.

Sounds like you have two different things going on here; a chondroid lesion on a rib or in a rib joint (one of indeterminate type) and another lesion—this one a benign enchondroma—in a femur. Is your doctor suggesting these two lesions are distinct or related?

I do not not know yet. Have not conferred with Dr yet. It will be interesting to see if they are related or stand alone. I originally started all this over pains in my rib and sternum. Had no idea about an issue in my Femur. It was not even a thought until this test revealed that there is an issue.
I am leaning towards good because I do not see the C word. Thank you for your insight on this.

Good luck to you. I haven't read through all five pages, but I'm assuming you were sent the report b/f speaking with your doctor? IMHO, it is totally unacceptable how information flows to patients these days. I myself received a biopsy report earlier this year stating that I had cancer on a Saturday. I began reading it then closed it. I think certain information should come directly from our physicians and not left up to the lay person to try to interpret.

Update and thank y'all so much for your prayers.
After seeing one specialist after another in SA. I went for a PET, MRI and CAT scans and the 3.5cm lesion I have on my left side, 3rd rib is NOT malignant. What was more concerning to the Dr's was the build up of isotope in my right distal femur than my rib. That turns out to be something that was non alarming to the Ortho Oncologist. Both the Ortho and Thoracic surgeon suggest we revisit these issues in 6mos to see if the lesion on my rib grows and decision was made to NOT take a biopsy and watch. Until I had this info I was feeling like I had one foot in the box.
While I am not 100% healthy. I do not have Cancer. Big sigh of relief and again.
