I have good luck with the trace mineral blocks from the feed store.

I don’t do anything anymore except a trace mineral block from my local feed store. When I used to buy some seeds from Whitetail Institute they gave me some of their 30-06 minerals to try. The deer loved them to the point that they would dig in the ground for months after I put them out.

Stick it in the crook of a cedar limb high enough so hogs can't reach it. The salt will eventually kill a tree, but a cedar tree is no great loss.

We used the blocks like mentioned above. Would also make spots with the cattle mineral salt. Just pour it out and mix it in with the dirt. They would look like huge scrapes once the deer found them.

I just use those trophy rocks. It’s really getting time for them to stop using them.

I had a 100 acre lease a few years back that had a major trail from one main food plot on the east side to a hill top plot on the west. I made a large lick out of antler kings mineral from May- July and hung a camera on it. It got tons of use by deer, hogs, coyotes

Our deer prefer the Trophy Rock 465 mineral, it's granular like thick rock salt. They will tear it up! Most other mineral mixes and blocks just set there and rarely get touched.

Stock salt. Dig a hole, pour it in and cover with 3 or 4 inches of dirt. Salt will leach to the surface and the critters will use it for years.

General purpose mineral meal and 6 mineral stock salt mixed together. You can throw in some strawberry jello for an attractant if you want but not necessary. The deer love it. This buck has been on almost every day this summer. I like to pour it on a stump or log. The lick is on a log just out of the picture to the left of where this buck is standing. This is about 100 yards behind our house.

In the past I put about a pound of the Lucky Buck in for scent/taste attraction. This year I started using a pack of Jello for scent/taste attraction. The Lucky Buck is $19.99 for 20 lbs. The mineral meal and stock salt together is $33.50 for 100 pounds. Almost exactly the same minerals.
