Yellow Bellied Racer?

Belly looked more orange

Hanging out on the fence watching me shoot my bow this evening

Figured it was a rat snake when I first saw it but got closer and saw it was not

Yep, yellow-bellied racer. It's a grey phase one. Seen them that color, olive color and green as a gourd. Not sure if habitat or time of year or what determines that.

I figured he was catching a breeze under the pecan tree and trying to stay cool

I bet he was too. Probably scoping that tree out for baby birds to get up in there and eat. I've seen those things climb so I'm sure they'd raid a sparrow nest or somethin if they caught wind of one.

Looks like he's hanging out on the fence waiting for a bird to land so he can have a snack...
