If you’re packing it in, you obviously want light weight and nutrient dense.
Even when I’ve been on low carb diet, I make sure I fuel my hikes with some carbs (I learned that the hard way.) I’m probably going a little healthier this year, but some of my favorite mountain snacks in the past have been dried bananas/Golden Graham cereal and gummy bears/smarties. I would keep them in my hip pouch and eat them to fuel a big hike.
I just finished freeze drying a first batch of Heather snacks (some will mix in with meals) to take to Utah next week.
(Avocado, bananas, sweet potatoes, apples, mushrooms, beets)
I’ll be prepping some meals and a few additional snacks this week.

I have one blind that is very large, sometimes I'll spend all day/night in it. It sets up on a big "shelf" on the side of a hill, so you can drive right up close behind it, and the critters can't see the truck, making it easy to drop off a small cooler with food. I keep a little propane stove, and a small skillet in there. When my son was little we would make grilled cheese sandwiches to pass the time, and snack on. A couple times though, we made "Triple Doubles"! A triple double is basically a grilled cheese with 2 slices of cheese, 2 slices of fried ham, and 2 fried eggs. It requires an ice cold red diamond sweet tea, or Dr Pepper, to wash down, and generally quickly followed by a nap.
