If you were going to attempt to....

If you were going to attempt to....build a three 55 gallon drum feeder setup, since you can't find a 1000 pounder or larger cheap enough for your cheap skate self, how what would your plans be for a base and working out the collectors and head mounting?

Krivoman is going to be cheaper and less headaches in the long run.....unless you can find a 1500# for $150 like I did!

First I would give up on the barrels and find an old propane or diesel farm tank.

I used a drum and it was easy. I just put a cross bar through the top of the barrel about 6" down and attached the ends to a chain that were both attached to a cable above the barrel. I had it on a 15 foot tripod. I used a heavy duty plastic trash can lid to cover it. Works great and has for 10 years.

let me unmudify, I was thinking three drums next to each other, not on top of each other....side by side, tops same height, bottoms same height, platform, three funnels into one, feeder head...done....

keebler, sell me that one....you don't need it....

I know I could buy one from Mitch, but I am cheap and want to see if I could make one cheaper....usually ends up costing more....just asking at this stage....

Should have told me last year. I gave mine away to a lease buddy for 100 bucks.

I have another one of these I will let go for $150 (or will consider trades of equal value stuff). I ended up only needing one instead of 2

If you did 4 barrels, it would be square. I like building square stuff better. You could build your platform so each barrel would feed out each side. I would keep funnels seperate, so you would be less likely to have a clog affect whole thing. You would need funnels in each barrel.

Sounds like more trouble than it's worth to me. I'd look for a larger container, or a used big feeder for sale.
