    Abilene Lunch Recommendation

A little different from the title, but I'll be in Tuscola tomorrow for a site visit for work. Any recommendations for a good lunch spot. Probably a good home cooking cafe but I'll take any and all recommendations. Thanks in advance.

I don't know if The Homeplace is open tomorrow, just north of Tuscola. If it's open, it's what you're looking for. Great home cooking.

Thanks for the suggestions. All sound like they are in the right area so I'll check one of them out. If the Homeplace is open that is right where we will be.

Belles has some great fried chicken it opens at 5pm.
Blue Sky Burgers has a little of everything. I enjoy their burgers, CFS, and onion rings.

I think the Homeplace is only open as an event venue now.

Another option is to jump over to Buffalo Gap (not far) and go to the Gap Cafe. It is an offshoot of Perini Ranch Steakhouse, but with a limited, cafe type menu. The chicken fried steak is the Perini version and is really good.

And since you'll be there Friday, the Steakhouse is open for lunch. If you don't want to splurge on a steak, their burgers are amazing.

My Godmother used to bake pies for them. My godfather used to farm with the founder, before he got into the BBQ business. My godfolks lived in Windgate. Godfather was born on a farm just outside of town just south of the cemetery. Both are buried there, just east of town.

Thanks for all of the suggestions. We ended up eating at Cozumel Cafe and it didn't disappoint.

I'd have to recommend Blue Agave next time you're in town. It's on the north side but totally worth it. Fajitas toxacas, mixed, is what you oughta try.
