Protein has been fed for 15+ years. People have opinions on that, but it has kept animals around and there’s always a few good ones that show up on cameras. Killing them is a different story. It can get mighty dry.

My opinion is that's the way to do it. We liked it out there and would still be there if the landowner didn't sell out for millions. We didn't have a lot of water nearby, which is why I was curious if you were near the river.

Put out some Geritol or Metamucil, he won’t be able to resist it…..😁

Haha!! When it comes to lease photos, I am normally that guy for our pictures. I splurged this time and said he was 5+.

I find it really hard to distinguish deer that are 5 vs 7, 8, 9 etc. Not that it matters too much, 5 is old enough in the hill country IMO. And if he's 4, or 3, no sleep lost. Shoot what makes you happy. This is generally not a competition and not something to fight about.

I can’t tell you an exact age, but I can tell you he’s old enough to be shot!!!!

Oh, and thanks for the kudos on the thread on AT!!!!!

We are north of I-10 just a few miles west of town and I’ve seen one similar to him but, only once when he was hot after a doe. I hope he is still out there. Good Luck
