box or container to store wood in

OK apparently we have a lot of rattlers at our new ranch, we need to store wood for the stove in the lodge and wood for the Argentine grill. looking for good ideas on how to store the wood where it is snake proof, some of the wood will be stored under the grill, we are going to have doors made so it can be snake proof, may just build a nice wooden box with lid, any other ideas are welcome, thanks.

I store wood in an old box off of a bob tail truck. It has a roll up door and works well. I haven't found any snakes inside but underneath is another story.

That is a good way to store it but I am thinking of something smaller and out by the grill or maybe inside the carport, I am just scared to death that I will reach in there to pull out some logs and come out with a rattle snake, we have already killed two at the lodge, one was in the garage, also missed another one.

Sounds like you need something like this or build something similar out of 2x4's and fence pickets.

This is probably the right idea and you don’t have to worry with scorpions

Do a search for ”Dock Box” or Dock Locker”. That would be ideal for what you are looking for. They come in a jillion sizes and shapes and are usually weather proof.

Be careful storing it under the grill. I had some catch fire one time that was stored under a grill. Of course it didn't flame up until several hours after we went to bed.

I do not believe it could start on fire, it has a thick steel firebox lined with fire brick , it will be sitting on two inch stone, the box out for wood will be under all of that.

An old non working freezer or fridge.
If I recall there was a den under the house at Beaver. You should be used to them things.

Burn the whole place down. Sell it.

Never get used to them things, we have several little grandkids now, I have not taken them to Beaver but they will most likely spend a lot of time at the Double H, I think the job box idea is a good one, will most likely have a larger stack of wood away from the compound.
