    Busted shower valve body…

The shower head has had a slow drip for a few weeks, so I tried to fix it myself. I had done this about 7-8 years ago. I was trying to remove the shower handle, then valve head(whatever it’s called) the inner chrome cap was stuck pretty good. Kept turning it,and appears that I have cracked the valve body(the main piece that the 1/2’ copper lines for cold/hot/to shower head) come into. Called a local -lumber to look at it this afternoon. Said he may be able to come by tomorrow afternoon to look at it. So for now, all water into house and barn are turned off. The neighbor in Nextdoor RV spot offered the shower building for bathing.

Cut the lines put a shark bite cap on them and turn the water back on. Then you can fix as needed. I always keep a handful of those in 1/2 and 3/4 just in case and for frozen pipes that bust.

Plumber is probably going to have to cut open the wall on the opposite side of the shower the access.

They will cut out Sheetrock on the wall behind the valve and fix it. The pics on this new format are so horrible I can’t make out what brand that is… any idea?

don’t know if I’ve seen the outside housing break before (not that it couldn’t) the inside guts are replaceable, if it’s one of the major brands( like a cartridge)

            It’s a Delta. Installed in 97.
