I wondered about the first few answers. I read the question and answered in my head, "the first Saturday in October". Then I also thought, "it probably will still be ninety degrees or higher so it doesn't really matter." My hunting season opens when the weather starts acting like Fall.

I can remember when un season opened on the 15th Didn't matter what day of the week it was.

Maybe the 16th? Didn’t matter because we never hunted anything but weekends. Late drive to hill country on Friday night and leave early Sunday morning. My dad was not a serious hunter but a great dad for hauling me.
My first deer was 1964.

doesn’t bow season open the Saturday closest to October 1st? This means September 28th this year is the opener.
