I am a PI and had 8% on one of my surveillance trucks. Legal is 20 or 25% I have used the same shop for over 17 years here in Georgetown. They also service my vehicles...or did.... last year the same guy that has passed my vehicles for 10 years failed that truck. Once it fails, your vehicle is in the system and they look for the violation at the next "reputable" shop. I pulled the tint off and had legal installed just to get that truck inspected. I found an old school inspection place that now gets my mechanic business as well. This sucks because there are vehicles that have illegal tint all over the place, they all must know a guy!

Better believe it. I even have the No Seatbelt chime disabled on my vehicles, and I rip the tags off of mattresses!

Glad I read this thread. Was fixing to have my front windows done next weekend. Guess I will wait til I get the inspection done then have the windows done.

Yep. My guy told me he couldn't pass cause they got dinged by the regulators. I have another guy now.

I like the idea of windows down and fuse pulled.

If you really want it passed just go to one of those Mexican auto places. I’ve never had them say anything about tint and I had 5%

This is what I’d do. I see all kinds of vehicles that are blacked out and running the road. I’d seen so many that a year or so back I had a thread on here asking our resident cops if the law was even being enforced anymore

Passed a truck in Waco yesterday that I swore the windows was spray painted black.

Just get the paperwork done and signed by your doctor for dark tint due to skin cancer prevention

I go to the smallest ugliest hole in the wall shop two towns over to get mine done and have zero issues. Don’t use a chain or shop in a big town if you can avoid it.

The dude I use drives around the block, honks the horn, then hands over the paperwork.

Same here, they don't get paid enough to do much more.....when I lived in Utah they actually took off wheels and inspected the brakes.

Happened to me last year at Valvoline. Took it to another place and it passed. Just got inspected again this year, no problem. The crazy thing is no LEO has ever pulled me over for tint too dark, Of course the LEO Vehicles will not pass either. Next year no inspection required.
