    Bow Stand Height?

Going to sink some telephone poles and build some platform bow stands. Waist down will be covered with top half open. Set amongst tree tops. What height would you make the floor for least likely to get busted but still have a reasonable shot angle? Kids will be hunting some and feeder will be 15 yards.

It is 20 yards to my feeder and I have a Krivoman on a 6' tower and it works well.

I did that "top half open" style years ago and had my platform 25 feet up in a small grove of pecan trees. After many encounters, I put a wire dome over the top half and covered it with camo netting with shooting holes through it in strategic locations. I went from having to remain motionless during an encounter until the animal got just right before I could draw and break the shot to being able to sit in a chair then stand up while the animal was coming in and drawing whenever I pleased and taking a comfortable unrushed shot. That enabled me to kill dozens of turkeys, deer, hogs, you name it... I then woke up and decided that "ENCLOSED" blinds are the trick... I replaced (actually just abandoned using it) with an enclosed wire frame blind that I could stand on the ground and lay my bow and pack in the floor before climbing in... Got even better results. That blind was sitting at the base between 2 of those same pecan trees that I had perched myself up in for at least 3 or 4 seasons until I snapped to what I really needed to do..
Now all my bow stands are enclosed with shooting windows that open and close, are insulated with solar lighting system, fans and heaters when necessary, but most importantly they are either sitting flat on the ground or no more than 6 feet off the ground. Some are in South Texas brush country and some are here in the East Texas bottoms...

OP you are about to do a whole heck of a lot of work putting up telephone poles and building a blind that won't hunt as well as one you literally could roll out there and stand up in 15 minutes!
          IMHO

My feet at 20 is my minimum. Prefer higher but shot angles get funky that high. The higher up the better wind helps I get…and I always hunt the wind.

my favorite killing spot has my head at 28 feet. Hand corn is at 27 feet and with 2-3 mph wind from north or west i am undetectable.

this is east texas by the way.

i also am a saddle hunter so am attached to the tree from the instant i leave the ground

                Thanks for the thoughts.

i have some enclosed blinds but the fact is, they're just too dang hot to hunt in the afternoon. And honestly, being up in the trees is more enjoyable.

Maybe ill just do a single one for this season and make sure to brush it really well. I already have the poles and will have the equipment on hand so it's really not that hard.

I’m no help! My highest setup is a Krivoman on an 18” platform.

Just depends on what part of the world you are in.
illinois, 25’ minimum, KS, 12’ min, OK, on the ground. TX, depends on which part of the state!

i like to be 15-20’ up in most areas but I also hunt the vegitation. Its hard to get 20’ up in South TX.
