My buddy Jimbo Bray from Lone Oak Adventures does guided trips out there. Nothing wrong with eating them, we ate all of ours and still kicking.

I used to go with buddies of mine there years ago. It's a lot of fun.

We would hit up an area called "The Wall" and pitch spoons for them.

My wife just had a great axis and Blackbuck hunt with Jimbo. Highly recommend him.

I spent many days there in a 14’ Jon boat catching them with crawfish around 1990…my buddy almost drowned fishing out of that boat during a bad storm. Flipped the boat and he ended up swimming to the dam and walking to the boat ramp with no shoes….we got a better boat after that.@

I ate plenty of fish out of Calaveras and Braunig for many years. I only glow a little.

When the reds were schooling at the Wall on Calaveras it was some kind of fun. They would hit just about anything and you could catch one right after another. It's fenced off now because some of the jackwagons couldn't follow the rules.

Catfishing was pretty darn good on those two lakes also, especially Calaveras. Saw some crazy things at those boat ramps also! Haven't fished either one since moving to Blanco six years ago, but I had some good times there.

I've caught many a catfish from there. Used to load up on baby talipia with the cast net and get after it. Always caught a red or two when fishing, that drag would just scream at the hookset.
