    It would be my luck that when the tree falls, it would fall straight down the fence line. And it will fall, sooner or later.

            I did the same thing with a huge cedar tree the neighbor wouldn't let me cut down. 3 years later it's still alive and the neighbor isn't.

              Im fully expecting to have this problem in the next few years. Neighbor in his 80s has lived there his whole life and some massive hardwoods have grown up in our fenceline. Decades of wire just being ran tree to tree. Expect his kids to sell it the day he dies and whoever buys it is going to want some nice pretty "looking at" fences.

                My first response was to laugh!

                Then I was astounded they killed the tree.
                **** things dries on their own enough. No reason to kill a healthy one.
