How to buy a shipping container?

Does anyone know how I could go about buying a used shipping container wholesale and pick it up right at the port? I have the ability to haul one myself so I’m trying to avoid the markup from a dealer. Thanks!

    Make an appt

    Go view unit

Look for visual blemishes on sides AND roof. May be good to do a walking visual on roof.

    Make pick up appt

Look up Govplanet.com, go to Texas and look at the containers up for auction July 24, in Springtown. They have some really nice ones on auction. Starting bid is $1000

I used this guy and bought a one trip, almost new; 40' container. Paid 6200 last year. Do not know what they cost now. But this guy has a good supply of boxes.

Which Port? If youre talking about Houston, drive along the north loop between 59 and Turning Basin, there are several dealers with cans stacked up. Very easy to see from the freeway.

As noted. Plenty of dealers along the NW loop in houston. More than likely, unless you specify a color, you'll get next off the stack. SiteBox has a couple of yards in Houston that have units you can walk thru and buy from them directly. They only purchase one trip and wind and water tight units. Go to their website and call a rep for help.
