If steel pipe, I would for sure make it hinge at about 8’-10’, so you can lay it down to repaint, repair the pulley/rope, etc.

I just had a 40’ installed at my house. I bought it from Symonds Flags located on 183 in Irving. They were great to work with. I would highly recommend them.

You are the second or third that have recommended them, thanks. Oh I will be installing it myself, it will be on the ranch in West Texas, it will most likely be one of those " hold my beer and watch this " outings. lol Thanks for the leads

You wouldn’t know it to look at him but his flagpoles are some of the most rigid around.

I’ve always wanted to do a water tower or windmill tower with a pole on top for a big flag.

I made one using 2-3/8 drill pipe about 30ft above the ground. Its been up 25 yrs still standing.

I was shocked at how simple the install was. They drilled a pier that was about 12 inches in diameter and I think it was 5 or 6 feet deep, set a tin horn, put a little concrete around it, let it set up about 45 min while they put the top of flag pole on. They had a clamp on the skid steer they picked the pole up with. They set the pole in the tin horn leveled it up and filled it with play ground sand, as they were filling the tin horn they tapped the flag pole with a big rubber hammer to get the sand to settle. Once the tin was full, they were done. Theory is if the pole moves and gets crooked, they come out, suck the sand out of tin, level pole and put sand back in. Like I said, I was shocked at how simple it was.
