Does anyone know what the going rate is for an Excel document creation with (structure, formulas,etc..)

A per hour rate or completed project?

man, if I knew I could get paid to operate Excel then I need to start advertising. I would say normally one would expect to pay 45-60 dollars per hour for technology based services.

Haha! Me too! I created a excel doc for my wife and now her company wants me to make a few changes to incorporate the whole company! I just didn't want to do it for free!

technology based work is kind of tricky because how long it takes to complete something is subjective. How long it takes depends on the persons skill level which equals less/more trial and error type scenarios.

I would think you might be able to go to a business school at one of the Universities in FW and get it done. How big a project is it going to be?

My wife has done a few projects that included some excel creations. Her standard rate is 75 per hour.

I would charge by the hour. To me it would all depend on how complex the spreadsheet needs to be. I can almost guarantee they will won't you to make some kind of change to it in the future.

I think a lot of it depends on how specific the need is and how many people understand it. There are a lot of people who can write excel spreadsheets, but don't necessarily understand the industry specific need that you're addressing. When you have somone who can bridge that gap, it can be quite valuable. I wrote some templates a number of years ago for my business. Because I realized it would be valuable to certain similar businesses, I was able to sell about a dozen of them for $500 each. I didn't exactly get rich off of it, but it way more than covered the time I had put into it. The people who bought them increased their productivity by tens of thousands of dollars per year, so it was a real bargain for them as well. So it's not necessarily just worth the time you spend, it's worth what it can DO for them in terms of increased productivity, cost savings, etc.
