Just heard them talking about it on the radio. He was a one-of-a-kind character for sure. Died at age 79.

Met him at one of his campaign fundraisers years ago. Interesting character for sure. I still have his signed campaign poster. RIP Kinky.

I remember when he was running against Rick Perry somebody asked his opinion on legalizing same-sex marriage. He said "I'm for it - I think they have every right to be as miserable as the rest of us". A lot of other people started using that line but I think he originated it.

I never really knew what he was famous for, besides running for governor, and being Willie's friend. Was he a singer or actor, or what?

Wrote some novels and songs. Really a neat straight shooter that could **** both sides of the political isle off in about 15 seconds. Never apologized either. Was really a neat person. He was the type to upset people but they still liked him.

Dang. I sure didn’t agree with a lot of his politics, but I respected him a lot more than I do most politicians. He was a one of a kind ******* from El Paso.

I would vote for him for president, and he’s dead!

I sincerely wish him a peaceful rest. I will say this, I seem to remember at some point he was opposed to hunting. It may have been the magazine but he was the editor (or publisher) at the time. I don't know if he came around on that score or not. Still, a rapscallion for the masses.
