    Calling the Starlink gurus.

Deployed overseas and my group is looking to get starlink so we don’t have to pay ridiculous prices for the wifi where we are living.

Our plan is to buy it, ship it to one of our spouses back in the states and then have them ship it to us. If you order through starlink direct, they only ship FedEx which won’t make it to an APO. I’m going to contact Homedepot to see if they can ship direct to an APO.

Anyway, will we encounter issues by shipping to a stateside address, but ultimately end up using it in Eastern Europe? I found no way to contact starlink customer support to ask this question, seems they don’t even have a contact option on their website.

Plenty of people here have it already, so we are going to start knocking on doors and asking, but I figure the green screen might know some of the ins and outs already.

I'm no guru so take this for what it's worth. I think that the best route is to purchase Starlink where you are stationed if possible. Starlink is address and continent specific. If it is registered to a US address it can only be used in North America. I think you can do global roaming but the cost is like $400 per month. You can possibly have one bought in the US and shipped to you.Once you received the equipment. You would then have to basically cancel the service and then reapply using the new address. Just like if you sold it to someone else. Check out some youtube channels as some of those have some pretty good information put out by people who travel to different countries. You may also try downloading the Starlink app. That's about the only way to contact them. You'll need the app anyhow if Starlink works out for you.

I would skip Home Depot and Best Buy etc, most all the set up and activation issues I read about come from units purchased at these places. Buy directly from Starlink.

First good luck, stay safe and thanks for ya'lls service. I would take the advice and contact Starlink and tell them the story. I personally want toi know if Starlink will adapt and support our service deployed overseas. Keep us posted.

Just got back and we brought a personally purchased Starlink with us. It worked fine, US based address with one of the roaming plans. I think it cost us about $200/mo. You can do the same thing and have it mailed from your spouse. You'll have to put it in a roaming plan. Their plans and rates change all the time so the price/plan name may be different. There are countries that Starlink restricts support to, even in those countries i've heard of it working. You just couldn't purchase it there.

I ended up going through Home Depot as I could get it delivered today to my parents house, cutting out the 1-2 week shipping time from Starlink.

We will see how it plays out. Worst case we will be able to tell the next group what NOT to do.

There was one for sale in the classifieds. Granted it was the same cost as a new one but may have skipped any 'red tape' of getting it to you. Wife handled all of ours, I just set it up. And the neighbors for that matter. I think all will like it.

                Good luck and stay safe

We were wanting to try the ship directly to us route, but we would have to find a local address to use and someone who could go off post and retrieve it or that person bring it on base for us(we have a little time still before they start letting us venture out). Finding a local we trust to not snatch up our starlink would take a little time. 😂

Ordered from Home Depot today, paid a couple extra bucks for same day delivery. Dad is already headed to the post office to ship it. Now we see how long it takes packages to get here. Appreciate yalls help. Sounds like we shouldn’t have issues, just might have to get a roaming plan. Will download the app and see if I can reach out to Starlink customer support to see what our options are.
