My buddy has one, had one even after they were deemed illegal. They're kind of hard to make work properly I think but my buddy can go through a 100 round drum without skipping a beat. He's got the technique down.

He smoked a whole group of pigs with it one day. When they work right it's frickin cool as hell. I never saw them as very practical until that day. I'll never forget seeing that string of brass in the sunlight and those hogs were going ballistic. We caught them at a fence they couldn't get through and they all had a really bad day. They didn't all die right then but none ran off without an extra hole or two in 'em.

I watched Nugent shooting (at) pigs from a helicopter once with one of his full auto rifles. He wasted lots of ammo and he is far from a newbie at shooting. Once he went back to semi mode he began knocking those pigs down quicker and with way less ammo. I think it would be great fun to shoot a full auto rifle, and more fun to shoot a Browning 30 or 50, but fun has its limits, mainly in the $ department. I put the bump stock in the same category, probably fun, but expensive to maintain, kinda like a supermodel. That said, it ain’t a machine gun, and I’m glad this ruling came down, especially because of the future implications. If Biden gets re-elected, expect more of this nonsense, remember, he still is going through the motions of forgiving student loans even though he doesn’t have the legal power to do so. And Trump is the one who wants to be a dictator !

SCOTUS , in my opinion, moved bump stocks way up the ladder of what is really important in this country.

This is bigger than “bump stocks.” This is about telling bureaucratic agencies, who are creating law outside of the constitution, to stay in their lane. Which to me is one of the existential threats to this country, making it immensely important.

the legal basis used in this decision applies to EPA, IRS, and a hundred other agencies filled with unelected officials who believe they have the authority to “make rules” which is just a bad euphemism for new laws, which they do not have the power to do

…and almost no accountability when they step over the line.

I don't want or need one, big waste of ammo. But I like the fact that it puts pressure on the beauocats to move back in their lane.

She then goes on to explain that the weapon cannot fire more than one round with a single function of the trigger.

Basically her own explanation overturns her own argument.

It is all about emotions and she brings up the Las Vegas shooting. What does a terrible mass murder have to do with a legal definition written by Congress? It’s a trick question… the answer is nothing.
I can’t think of anyone that has ever described her as ‘smart’.

Exactly ! He is extracting revenge for his failure to be confirmed right now. We can thank “The Turtle” for that. About all we can thank him for though.

Scary thought but we are always one election away from something like that happening.

First, I completely and strongly disagree with Trump’s opinion on bump stocks. His knowledge on firearms though is probably the equivalent of my knowledge of brain surgery.

He did not issue an executive order however and had he done so, it would not have been lawful. An executive order cannot change laws which is why Obama had the same issue. When he famously, said, I have a pen and a phone and I will make changes in gun possession…. he couldn’t and didn’t.

What Trump did was to ask the DOJ to look into what it would take. That led to the ATF “final ruling” that changed the definition. The ATF has the authority to interpret however they cannot go outside of a specific legal definition. They stretched that rubber band beyond the breaking point. The Supreme Court overturned the ATF.

Did Trump initiate the action by the DOJ? Absolutely and I have already said that I strongly disagree with it.

I doubt that even now that Trump even understands the issue of the definition passed by Congress. His response to this ruling was political. He said that he supports the Supreme Court.

But, an executive order didn’t and couldn’t ban bump stocks or redefine the definition of a machine gun.

                            Carry on….. 🤔
You are correct. I confused or misread "Executive action" with "executive order" and they are not the same.
