Makes you wonder how much more of the class was hogwash.....
This is a problem with any kind of class.
Concealed carry, hunters Ed, paramedic, etc...
Get 3 people that hold the same cert or license together and ask them a question and you'll likely gat 3 different answers.

Instructors tend to put their own ideas and opinions into their classes.

I don't even have a CHL and I know most of the laws. They have been posted here time and time again.

Yes you can have a beer or 3 as long as you are not intoxicated.

The key word it intoxicated enyone ever witnessed a person get a pi that wasn't drunk legally? It happens a lot a pi is public intoxication. Right? No breathalizer or sobriety test needed. A buddy of mine got one last week after leaving a bar walking to his truck. He got pushed in the bar pushed the Guy back and the officer followed him out and arrested him for pi for causing a scene. He begged for a sobriety test. He had one beer and was charged with pi. Its the officers choice. No different with a handgun. Simply don't drink and carry in my opinion if you wanna be safe. I think its rare extremely rare that this would happen but why risk it? My buddy's pi came from him acting a fool and allowing someone to push his buttons but my point is intoxication is not a number of beers. It falls on the officers choice.

Of course the burden of proof is on the officer to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that you were on some substance, including alcohol, and were a danger to yourself or someone else due to that intoxication.
        X2

While I never carry when I know I will be drinking...from reading this thread, some people have been totally been mis-informed on the law.

Like TVC said, it's really about public intoxication, which is via officer discretion and not necessarily regarding alcohol in particular. It has nothing to do with the legal BOL to drive which is .08.

No such thing as "zero tolerance" for a CHL holder as far as the law is written.

By the letter of the law, you can have a beer while carrying and if not deemed publicly intoxicated be legal. Now if you pulled your pistal and it was noted that you had a BOL, then it would certainly open a can of worms. Just saying that "zero tolerance" is not really in the law per say.
