    Police Reports Public?

My daughter was involved in a minor accident where she was rear ended the other day. Her car is primarily registered to me I guess because I helped her with the loan. Starting today the spam calls and texts from fake law firms, insurance companies, and others are rolling in heavily with messages. I have had over 50 calls on both my work and personal cell phone. The weird thing is my parents are also getting the calls and they are nowhere on the registration or police report. I don't know where they got all this. Or even that there was a collision. The only thing I can think of is the police department just gives this out. I'm going to call them but figured I would see if anyone else has had this happen.

I did get a few calls after my son's wreck. But, if I don't recognize the number, I don't answer it. If it's important, they can leave me a voicemail. It didn't last long and ended on its own.

Pretty sure anyone can request most reports. Not sure how it would automatically be spread out over the net for all these companies and scammers to get

Set your phone to ignore all unknown numbers for the next few weeks. I had a similar situation when my phone number was made public during a mortgage application

The insurance company probably sold all your information.

The American Bar Association considers ambulance chasing to be unethical under Rule 7.3 of its Code of Professional Ethics. The practice is also illegal in many states.

Against the law in Texas, $10K fine per incident. https://www.enjuris.com/personal-inj...lance-chasing/

They are getting it from the TXDOT site. My brother hit a small block chevy in the middle of the highway about a month ago. He was the only vehicle involved and the TXDOT report is the only report. The next day he was already getting calls from "law offices". His wife was getting calls and they never took her info down.

If anyone is wondering what happens when you hit a small block chevy in the middle of the highway, it destroys everything under the truck. Steering rack, front diff, motor, transmission, transfer case, bent and ripped the frame.Visually the truck was fine aside from a small dent in the bumper.
