    Home insurance

Anyone ever had any trouble collecting from Progressive Insurance Company? They have turned my daughter down on an A/C lightening strike. Two different HVAC companies says it is lightening that ruined the compressor.

How much is it to replace the compressor, is it higher than deductible? Personally, would not put anything on insurance unless its really bad (and her premium will go way up).

Progressive is typically pretty good. Like bbq said, what’s the deductible. Even a 1% deductible would make it at least several thousand dollars. Not sure it would reach the deductible let alone be worth claiming

I have Progressive but have not had to claim anything yet. Same as the others have said, it might not be worth it, because they will jack up your premium.

I used to think this way, now I claim everything house or car !

They sure appreciate folk not claiming stuff whilst they slap you in the face and raise your rates anyway.

I'm about to start using this approach.

Our deductible is huge. Last year got slapped by lightning that hit a pole 1 block away. I saved receipts just in case we went past the deductible. Did not happen...

I think the only bid they have gotten was 15k from a Brownwood company. House uses two compressors.

Was that with Vaseline? That's crazy. It must be a quote for a couple of 3 ton heat pump condensers and it's still high. They need to look into a whole house surge protector.

I have a several rent houses in one zip code that was hit by a hail storm last year. Progressive wouldn’t pay me on the 3 different hail damaged roofs. The other 3 insurance companies I use all paid without delay. My insurance broker told me that progressive is no longer writing home insurance polices in Texas and no longer cares about customer satisfaction.

They got it done today. I have no clue what they paid.

If the lightning didn’t hit the house or compressors directly it’s likely not covered anyway. Might be why they didn’t cover it?

I had my 4 ton condenser/compressor replaced Saturday with a variable speed unit. He could have put 2 on for Les Ethan half of that!

did she call out a second adjuster?

Progressive isn’t writing new homeowners policies in Texas unless the roof is under a year old

Yes, she had two different companies come out. They both said lightening.
