If it was in Texas, that sounds like some violation of the Health and Safety Code for delivery of a controlled substance or pharmaceutical without a license. I could likely find the law without a whole lot of effort but it is not exactly like an everyday event for a patrol officer. Any person should know that you can't give prescription drugs to another person (especially if it is a child) without a license to do so like a nurse practitioner or doctor.
I understand, but this was on the news LOL.. They had time (at least some time) to figure it out. The news lady and the interviewed LEO said they were trying to figure out what they could charge the teacher with. THATS the problem IMO.

And duhh it was wrong. How would you feel or act if you were going to be arrested for something you thought was ok but it took them a long time to figure out which law you broke?

It kind of makes you want to learn that laws that specifically deal with your profession and those that you may have guardianship over.

Cops certainly don't know all the laws because in truth, they only deal with a small fraction of them on the street. But you can bet they know the ones that they have to deal with and you would think that a teacher knows or should know the same.

I suppose it is like people that carry a pistol in a vehicle in plain view because someone down the street told the guy that is what he thought the law was.
