I’m considering adding an attic fan in my attic on a thermostat to help lower attic temps. My a/c duck work is in the attic and I’d like to lower temps. I was wondering who all has them and if they would help some.

You may need more than 1 fan. There are a few ways to calculate, but roughly you need 1 foot of exhaust for every 200ish sq ft of attic space. And adequate inlets are as important as exhaust.
fwiw solar powered fans are effective and waaay less expensive to install, but I don’t recall any that were thermostat controlled

One controversary I used to hear about ventilating the attic space with a fan was this: The fan can pull the conditioned air through gaps, cracks and joints if the home is not well sealed, causing the conditioned space to then place more load requirement on the a/c system. Whereas a ridge vent and soffit vent will allow that outside air to move freely through the attic space without the need of a fan. The goal should be to have the attic space the same temp as the outdoor environment.

I have an attic fan and can tell you it makes a big difference in the attic temp. I routinely get up there in the summer to put solution in the drain lines to keep them clear. I don't know the exact temp but it is not bad at all. I usually try to get in and get out but it's not a sweat box like it used to be.

last week my wife was talking about how she wanted a sauna to help detoxify. I had to get in the attic on Monday afternoon and told her we already had that sauna she was wanting
