    Hogs are hard to judge!

Here's the story. I hunted about a week ago and saw what I thought was a 40-50 pounder. Then one 3x it's size came out but I shot the small one to clean to eat. Small one was 80-100 pounds. Made me wonder how big the other one was! I was guessing 230-240.

Tonight I tried hunting the easy #2 blind but 8 pigs were already out at 7:40 so after I rained fire on them wounding a couple I went back to where I saw this bigger pig a week or two ago.

Nothing but cows after dark until this guy comes out. Cows didn't bother him much at all.
I shoot and drop him. He was shaking and I was hoping he'd get up and run off. No such luck.

When I shot I guess 170-180. Then dragging him a few feet to hook up to drag off I though crap he's heavy and changed my guess to 220-230. Then I had to weight him so I drug him a mile back to scale.

Might want to hit the gym a bit more to get a more accurate human scale reading 😁

That’s a big old good one

I never could judge them on the hoof

Makes it interesting every time we weighed one.
But the work involved meant most were never weighed

idk how many times I’ve heard about 300 pounders. That were maybe 175lb pigs

I never had a problem guessing a pigs weight. I just look at the scales.

This is true and one reason I took the time to weight. Got to stay close on them guesses!

I don't care how much they weigh, I only care that it's all dead weight

50-70 lbs is the best eating!! All them big ones leave laying.

I do have to admit (since I usually ask others to admit things) I was tempted to shoot this one in the hind quarters and let it drag itself away. With the grass, chiggers, and fleas and ticks on the hog I wasn't looking forward to dragging it off. So although I still think it's wrong I can see why people do it!
