I grew up in Denver City and she grew up in Seminole so its close to home. I've got a few leads on jobs in the area, but would appreciate any other leads. I've applied for 18 jobs over the internet, but haven't heard anything. I will be down there next week looking and we will move down there the end of Feb.
Also if you don't mind a send up a prayer, my wife is 2 months preg with kiddo number 2. We're excited, but nervous at the same time making such big changes. Hope to meet up with some tbh members when we get moved down.
should be a lot of oil field and gas work

Good luck finding any place to stay in Midland/Odessa. Everything is hard to find, especially RV spaces. Better makes plans well in advance.

I live in Midland. Ever work in a machine shop? Buddy of mine who owns one is looking for help. Know anything about construction? I might can help there too. Know anything about retail sales? I could maybe help there too.

I haven't worked in a machine shop, but in my knife shop I have a surface grinder, vertical/horizontal milling machine, Kuhlmann pantograph, and a few grinders. I'm mainly self taught, all manual machines so that I can make knives. I know self taught is not ideal, but I didn't buy thousands of dollars of machines because I'm a slow learner
Just posting a couple of pictures of knives I've made in my shop with the machines I listed. I'm sure a real machinist would crynge at the way I do things, but I've never been taught. Just what I've figured out school of hard nocks and I can reed veneers, calipers, and micrometers.

As for construction just enough to be dangerous and as far as sales I'd go poor if I had to eat my commision. I've never considered myself much of a salesman. Thanks for the help.

They have a shop there in Midland by the hospital called Bear Claw that will probably be willing to help you sell those knives.

I've actually called Richard the owner. He had a position open, but he thinks I'd do better as "artist in residence" instead of working at his shop. He's a great guy I've dealt with before. I've got a 2.5 year backlog of knives to finish, before I can start putting them in his store.
