    Kissing Bug - best insecticide?

Daughter's place near Sinton has an issue with Conenose or "Kissing" bugs. I got bit by two this past weekend. Bites aren't bad, they itch a lot, but I've been keeping them clean since the initial bite.

Looking to see what others have used for an insecticide to kill/control these things. They do get into her house from time to time and we're working to try and seal everything up. Is there a good chemical to use around the house inside/outside? Where to get it? She has two inside dogs so the inside spray would need to be dog-safe. I know what A&M Ag Extension says to use for actual chemical names, but is there a brand that is good?

    Ideas?

I second Demon WP. I use it inside & outside. We have 3 inside/outside dogs, no issues. You can buy at Tractor Supply but mail order is cheaper from a site like DoMyOwnPestControl.

Here is what I use around the house. I have ZERO bug issues. My wife appreciates that. Everything I use is pet safe ONCE DRY, so I keep our dog off and away from it until it dries.

This is what I put down first. I only have about 5000sqft of yard. I put one bag of this down on the front yard, and one on the back. If you read the bag, the “season long control” is like 3x the amount they use for their “covers 12,500sqft” so really a bag covers like 4000sqft. I still put it down HEAVY.

              Next comes these:

Get a gallon. Put this in a hose end sprayer, I use an Ortho Dial-N-Spray, and put it down HEAVY. I think I set mine to the 1oz setting(not at the house to check) and I spray my entire yard and the exterior of the house. From the soffits down it gets sprayed.

Drop in a 1 gallon pump sprayer. I usually go through two packets(it comes with 4) every time I apply it. All exterior entry points get a coating. Around doors, windows, exhaust vents… any easy access. Inside also gets a coat with this. I do an entire perimeter spray of each room at the baseboards, and again around all entry points(windows, outlets, AC vents). Depending on the side of the house, you might end up using 3+ packets.

It might be heavy handed, but we don’t have bugs. We don’t have ants. We don’t have cockroaches. My dog hasn’t been on flea prevention for her entire life and has never had them. Might be a hazmat zone for a few hours after I put it all down, but it works.

Thanks everyone for the suggestions. It seems there is a pretty good consensus on the use of Demon WP. And that appears to also be a good product for controlling scorpions, which she has at her place too!

Did you know that kissing bugs carry the Chagas disease? Might want to talk to your physician about getting tested.
