Hey ladies and gents i wanted to get a thread going reference sabine pass/sabine lake/keith lake fishing. Really not much updated on the regular reference that area. With that being said i am headed down this weekend. Any locals have any advise on where to go since all the fresh water has dumped in there? I am kinda worried i will struggle to get on them.

I’ve been wanting to get down there for several weeks but the fresh water is overwhelming things.Late Sat And Sun morning it looks like the wind may lay down so if you can run off shore to some rigs with clean water you should do great. If wind and weather hold true Im gonna try and be out there myself Sunday.Good luck to you and be careful there will be lots of floating debris with all the flooding

The winds might be challenging on Saturday morning if the predictions hold up. The wind won’t be too strong but it shows from the north and northeast until about Noon. That will bring it right down the lake. It shows south and southeast most of the time after that.
If you launch at the causeway and run around Blue Buck Point, you should be able to get out of most of the wind near the Louisiana shoreline….. after about Noon Saturday. I have seen reports that the redfish have been doing well in the lake but haven’t spoken with anyone directly. The wind has been pretty nasty but should lay a little bit this weekend… from 15-25 to maybe 8-10 with gusts.
Kieth Lake? It probably isn’t affected as much by the fresh water runoff and I saw a Facebook post about birds working. Since I retired I don’t get that way very often. You would think that it would be the opposite. 🤔
Kieth Lake has a ton of construction going on right now with an new LNG plant going in across the highway and the road being rerouted so I am not sure about access to it.
I might ask around tomorrow with a couple of friends that I fish with. I have fished that area for 50 years but have been tied up at family since late last year. Heck, maybe I will get adventurous (if I have time) and drive to Kieth Lake and check it out. It’s about a 20 minute drive from home.

Go through boat cut on Texas jetty and hang a right and go about 100 yards and fish back towards boat cut. Limetruese jerk shads 1/8 ounce jig head for trout. Black and chart or pumpkin chart bull shads on south side of boat cut fishing tight to rocks for reds. Sometimes small shad colored crankbait like swimming image or a jerk bait will catch trout and reds fished along rocks.

I would more likely fight the crowds on the Louisiana side. 😎
Is that area reasonably consistent? When I would fish outside of the Texas wall, I would fish more down toward the end.

We used about a 5 pound chunk off of one for bait maybe 40 years ago. We tossed it off of the end of the Texas jetty. We would catch sharks up to around 4 feet, a lot of times it was Bull sharks on the reels we had. The one I was using might’ve had 200 yards of 50 pound test.
Something grabbed the bait in about 5 minutes and took off. We never slowed it down. It’s probably still going…….
