    Severe geomagnetic solar storm warning

Here’s something new/ different/ interesting. NOAA has issued a severe solar storm warning resulting from unusually large discharges of ‘coronal mass’ from the sun. They say starting today it could disrupt gps, power grids and result in aurora borealis (northern lights) visible in the southern states.

The 'unusual event', as the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA)  put it in an emergency bulletin Thursday, would be the first in nearly 20 years if it comes to fruition.

Came off the sun yesterday. They are comparing it to a big one we took 100+ years ago...

Says it will hit us at noon today. If I go outside with a compass will I see it?

I’m always curious how they can compare from that long ago.

ERCOT issued a K-8 geomagnetic Advisory a bit ago. At that level we will see at minimum some voltage deviations at the Transmission level.

If they miss it as bad as they missed last nights weather, they’ll be on a roll !

Don't tell me that you don't believe what the scientists are saying. They would never lie to us...cough, cough, COVID, cough, cough.

I haven't noticed a thing different. Has anyone?

I’m up north (Omaha) where it should be more intense and no issues with communication or electrical. Northern lights are supposed to be visible tonight , but I’m flying now

Here in Burleson County it is nasty. I lost all power, the trucks won't start, the generator won't fire up, .We're cooking supper over a fire right now.

                      Hell no just kidding.

My wife sent me this. I may be able to see the northern lights tonight. If I do, I’ll try to get a picture Click image for larger version

This is like trying to predict the second coming of Christ. I won’t believe it until I see it.

This seems a bit optimistic, but reports that the lights have already been visible in Georgia
