Haven’t bought any lately (south/central Texas) but I find it ironic that the state makes us get a permit to put them in our private water when they’ve already stocked them in all the public waterways around here.

How hard was it to get the permit done and approved?

Not terribly difficult. Had to do the paperwork and a phone interview to determine that my pond drains into a ditch, goes through several ranches and their tanks before eventually(more than 20 miles of drainage) reaching the San Marcos river which was stocked by the state using the same source that I got my fish from.

Sent in permit with a rough map with address.
They emailed today asking if the tank was actually there or the one indicated on their really nice satellite photo 150 yards away. We concurred they were right and permit is forthcoming

Permit is only $20 and some change.

We had to put a little three post hog panel on our spillway to get a permit. We didn't have any breed, but one of them must've found the fountain of youth. My grandpa died in 2015 and he put the one we still have swimming around in there. I don't think he's eaten grass for a long time. Lives on bluegill feed.

Last ones I bought were from Bryan Texas. I believe Dunn has them if they deliver to your area.

I am always amazed when they swim by.
