    Gun Safe Locksmith

Anyone know of a Locksmith in the Houston area that could switch out the dial on my gun safe and install an electronic keypad system? The manufacturer is sending me the keypad unit so I just need to get it installed.

    Thanks,

    K-Man

Any locksmith should be able to do it but why do you want a keypad?

I got locked out of my keypad and will always have dial after that.

Because dials get off very easily.
I have two safes. On digital and one dial. The original dial has been replaced because the tumblers moved. It took hours to luckily get it open. Once I did I had it replaced with another dial ($400 hit) and a month later that stinking thing is off a number and a half. It takes 20-30 minutes of screwing with it to get it open.. And it’s VERY finicky!!!!
The digital eats 9v batteries but it always opens..

I've used Allen's Safe and Lock out of Montgomery to move a safe but not replace a keypad. They seem like a legit operation though.

I've had my American Security Products dial safe for 41 years without a problem. It has probably been opened 2-3 times a week in that time.

What part of town? I have used two good ones on the West/Southwest side.

                  Baker Safe/Lock - Fondren/Westpark
                  Houston Safe/Lock - Westheimer/BLTWY 8

That sounds like poor quality locks or bad installs. I've had zero issues out of mine yet I know multiple people who have had issues out of keypads. I got really lucky that mine didn't have to be drilled. Couldn't get that crap off of there soon enough.

This is exactly what happened to mine. The first was after a move (original cannon dial) but the second time happened under normal use(S&G dial). Never spun fast.
It's actually very common, according to the 2 lock smiths that I know. And when it happens it is a royal PITA trying figure out the number that drifted.

I wouldn't own an electronic...I can promise we've had WAY more complaints about being locked out via batteries vs worn tumblers.

I need to get my guy over here & eyeball mine as it's been decades since service.
