ID:	26784627 Digging around in my shed this morning and found this. Last time I used this was probably back in 1968 or 69 on a trip to Galveston. This was my first self bought reel when I was about 13 from money I got selling pecans. I probably should bring this one back to life and go catch a catfish.

I fished a lot up in Red River as a kid and these were the only thing that would hold up in the sandy water of Red River. Everything else made back then would have the gears eaten away inside after a couple of trips. Ocean City reels might last one summer and Zebcos back then wouldn't last a day catching those big drum and gator gar.

Yep. I think I might have one or two of those packed away somewhere, not sure of the year model though as they were my Father in Law’s.

Caught many a Kingfish and dorado and other pelagic fish with a 209 Penn mounted on a Shakespeare fiberglass rod with the old wooden baseball bat handle!! Still have a couple lying around. They were almost indestructible‼️

I cleaned/repaired fishing reels in the summers as a kid. These old penns were always the most satisfying to work on because they were easy to fix and cleaned up really well. Love those old reels!
