First roadkill of this variety by me

Have seen them dead on the road before in Louisianna but 1st alligator I have seen dead here on the road

    Right down from the house

No pics as it was on the inside and no where safe to stop, about 1' of tail sticking out of the grass

Probably 5' from what I could see the second time I went by

We see it here at the lake occasionally. Normally after heavy rains like we’ve had this week.

We see it pretty often down here in the marsh. My daughter ran over this one a couple of years ago. I talked to game warden and he let me keep the meat. Had to get rid of all evidence, he told me he was going to come check me and if I kept as much as a toenail he was going to write me up. Meat only.

I got one about 5' one morning before daylight on my way to Port Fourshon in La. Was headed to the chopper base to fly out to South Timberlier 300... On the way back in that evening, he was on the side of the road with his tail missing! Some coonarse stopped and got the tail!!

Used to see one or two dead on the road to Sabine Pass in the spring every year.

We saw one about halfway between POC and Port Lavaca going on a run for a new water pump last weekend. That was the first I've seen. I believe it was about a year ago a lady died when she wrecked her SUV somewhere around Tivoli after hitting a gator.

I almost hit one Thursday. Had to come to a complete and abrupt stop to miss it. Shortly later I came upon another one that decided to promptly get out of the road. The one I almost hit was a solid 6-7 feet. The one that got out of the road quickly was a bit larger. Maybe 8 ft.

There was 10ft gator ran over on 99 here in Montgomery County a few years back. Man hit it doing 70 mph at 3am in the morning by the San Jacinto river. It's a wonder he didn’t flip that car.

Wow! Insane. How did you remove him from the road anyway?
Did you inform aaac wildlife removal customer service about this case?
I think we are obligated to do it if i understand that right

I've seen a few hit and killed here. Usually it is in the spring when they are out looking for love. The males will cover lots of ground.

2 funny stories about gators on the road. First one, I was on my way to Matagorda one morning to go fishing. There was a couple vehicles including a Sheriff deputy on the side of the road on Hwy 60 just south of Selkirk and a HUGE gator was laid out dead across the south bound lane, and he was all the way across the lane. A true jumbo model like 11-12'er. I had to slow to a stop and creep by to get around it. The deputy was standing right there by it along with several other people checking out the dead gator. There was someone sitting on the gator as another person was taking pics. Only it wasn't dead, must have just been knocked out. At some point it let them know it wasn't unalived yet and it had to be dispatched due to it's injuries.

Second story, I was on my way fishing one morning and was driving over the high bridge in Matagorda and there was a dang alligator all the way up at the top of the high bridge over the ICW. Like about an 8'er. I stopped and took pics of it and it was making it's way up to the top of the bridge. I heard later that a Sheriff's Deputy was sent out after someone called it in and he was trying to herd it over the bridge with his car when it went over the side from up at the top of the bridge and suicided itself. I guess gators aren't good at diving.

The Dow plant B in Freeport had a canal that ran through the plant to supply river water. We frequently had gators in the roads. Had a 12 footer that liked to sun himself frequently. Same one found a cool spot for the summer In a shop building that was close to the canal. He was "tame" as he never got aggressive towards anyone. He did have to be removed from the shop frequently as it, understandably, disrupted the work schedule. Finally got aced by a dump truck. Driver got canned for reckless driving. Had some get killed on the roads every year. It was "illegal" to feed 'em but people did anyway. Probably one reason why they travelled around a bit.
