Thanks for the great info guys. I should hear back from my insurance tomorrow with some numbers. Today they just told me they were handing it off to a different department. It is an older car and isn't worth much to anyone but me. I have a great insurance company, if there is such a thing, so hopefully they will treat me right. Amica.

It's not USAA is it? I've got a very long-winded story about them and how they screwed us by totaling a vehicle based solely on a "new" price for a "no longer available" part from the dealer. And they refused to look at used parts, per their own policy!

My sons 2005 f250 was totalled, he bought it back, fixed it, and kept full coverage thru the same insurance company (Allstate). A year later he rolled it in an ice storm and they totalled it again. He took the settlement that time because it crushed the pillars and was going to cost too much to repair. It was never retitled.

I would work them for full cash replacement value, Which might take a few weeks and offers back and forth. After that, you can ask what it would be to buy it back But if you can get full value from insurance, that’s hard to beat.

Tell me what you mean by full cash replacement? What it would cost to replace the car in the condition it was in before the accident? Current miles and condition?

                Thanks

At least you have one of the better insurance companies. I had to file both vehicle & home claims when I had Amica and couldn't have had a better experience.
